Cleanliness & Safety: Okay… this is the era of germophobia, right? They have Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer, Hygiene certification… all the things. And they talk about Professional-grade sanitizing services and Rooms sanitized between stays. Plus Safe dining setup and, for the truly paranoid, Room sanitization opt-out available. They've got all the bases covered. If you're worried, this place probably feels like a sanctuary.
Services and Conveniences: This is where the hotel really shines. Concierge, Daily housekeeping, Laundry service, Dry cleaning, Luggage storage, etc. All the things that make a trip, especially a relaxing trip, a breeze. Día 1: Llegada y el "Encanto" Inicial (o el "Encanto" con Comillas)
14:00 - 15:00: El Viaje en Tren… y la Pesadilla del Cambio. Bien, el tren desde Londres fue… bueno, inglés. Lento, con paradas en estaciones con nombres que parecían salidos de un libro de fantasía (¿cómo se pronuncia "Thornaby"?). Y luego… el cambio de tren en Middlesbrough. ¡Jesús, qué laberinto y qué gente! Casi pierdo el segundo tren. Me sudaban las manos, mi equipaje parecia el mío y el de otra persona, me sentía como un pulpo tratando de agarrar todos los tentáculos a la vez. El estrés inicial, ¡uff! Finalmente, llegué a Thorpe Thewles, aunque un poco… agitado.
15:00 - 16:00: El Lodge… y la Búsqueda del Wifi. Llegué al lodge. Bonito, sí, como en las fotos. Pero… el wifi. ¡Ay, el wifi! La primera vez que intento conectarme, nada. Pregunté en recepción. "Ah, sí, el wifi… a veces es un poco… temperamental." "Temperamental" es un eufemismo, querida. Es como un fantasma del internet, aparece y desaparece según su propia voluntad. 18:00 - 20:00: Resumen del día con un poco de té, y la eterna espera del wifi. Me preparé una taza de té (el único elemento fiable hasta ahora). Intenté leer un libro, pero el wifi me atormentaba. No podía evitar mirar el teléfono, esperando una señal. Me sentí como un adicto. ¡Esto no es vida!
Día 2: Un Encuentro Cercano con la Naturaleza (y la "Magia" del Domingo)
09:00 - 10:00: Desayuno y la Búsqueda del Sol (Frío). Un desayuno inglés completo. ¡¡¡Cuidado con el gluten!!! Tomarme un café, y salir para un paseo. Pensé que el clima sería mejor, me equivoqué. Era frío, y no tenía mucha ropa encima.
10:00 - 12:00: Un Paseo por el Parque… y la Revelación de los Perros. Entré en un parque. ¡Qué sitio! Un sitio hermoso, con un par de árboles y un montón de sitios para sentarse. De repente, empecé a ver perros por todas partes. Perros grandes, perros pequeños, perros con abrigos (!), perros corriendo, perros ladrando. Y sus dueños, sonriendo y recogiendo las cacas (¡benditos sean!). Me fascinó su energía, sus ganas de jugar, sus narices, y su olor. Me sentí un poco envidioso de la alegría con la que los perros abordan la vida.
12:00 - 13:00: Almuerzo y la Epifanía del Scone. De vuelta en el lodge. Decidí probar un scone con crema y mermelada. ¡Mamma mía! ¡Qué delicia! ¡La crema, la mermelada, la suavidad, la combinación perfecta! De repente, todo el viaje parecía mejor.
13:00 - 15:00: La Tarde de Domingo… y la Soledad (o la Reflexión, según se mire). La tarde de un domingo en la campiña inglesa. El lodge era tranquilo. Demasiado tranquilo, quizás. Me senté en el salón con un café y un libro. El libro, bueno. El café, más o menos. Pero la quietud… me dio tiempo para pensar. Pensé en mi vida, en mis decisiones, en… el maldito wifi. (¡Sí, otra vez!). Esta vez, el sol quiso salir un rato.
15:00 - 17:00: De nuevo al parque, con un poco de sol y una reflexión extra. El parque estaba más concurrido. El sol había salido, atrayendo a la gente. Sonreí viendo tanta gente. Seguí caminando por el parque, tratando de disfrutar las últimas horas del sol. Empezaba a comprender el encanto de este lugar, a pesar del wifi, del clima y de la comida, que estaba empezando a gustarme un poco más.

- 09:00 - 10:00: Desayuno y el Agradecimiento al Scone. ¡Un último scone! Para despedirme. ¿Quién sabe cuándo volveré a probar algo tan celestial?
- 10:00 - 11:00: Check-out y el Adiós… o Auf wiedersehen, o Hasta la vista, baby!! El check-out fue sencillo. Me despedí del personal (¡muy amables!) y me fui.

Y el 'instructor' (si se le puede llamar así) parecía más interesado en su teléfono móvil que en enseñarnos algo. ¡Miraba la pantalla más que las copas! Pero bueno, al menos salimos de la habitación, ¿no? O eso creo... La verdad, después de la cata, todo se me nubló un poco. ¡Quizás fue el vino... o el aburrimiento!
